West Oxford students have shifted into learning mode this week. I was so impressed with kindergarten- on Tuesday I told the teachers that it felt like they had been in school for a month! Students have worked hard to build a classroom community as well as practice routines and procedures. Teachers have started collecting data around what students know and are able to do, creating a baseline for learning. Our no tech days are marked by independent reading and collaborative learning.
Our global competence for August is self awareness. We've spent time identifying what we love about ourselves as we get to know each other.
Assessments start this week. Students will take the iReady assessments in reading and math. Third grade students will take the BOG for reading. When iReady assessments are finished, K-3 will take their mClass assessments.

This week, we will be transitioning to a new system to check students in and out. If you arrive after 7:45, you will need to walk your child to the office and check them in using your id.
Please make sure you have your car number at pick up to ensure students are picked up by an approved adult.
Mr. Allen will be here on Wednesday, August 27th at 3:15 for a parent information session about the Drum Line. The Drum Line is open to 3rd-5th grade students. Registration forms are in the office.
