West Oxford Owl for August 8, 2026

It is hard to believe that we are halfway through the first quarter already! Progress reports went home Thursday, and you can see all of your students hard work, as well as areas where we will be growing this year.

We loved seeing so many grandparents and friends out for our Grandparent's Day celebration this week. My grandparents were formative in my education, and I know so many of you play a vital role in your grandchild's life. We appreciate all you do!

Next week is North Carolina Arts in Education week. We are so excited to have Ms. Winston as our art teacher this year, and I have already seen really cool student art produced in her classroom.

This week we will have our first lockdown drill. While we pray we never need to use these plans, your student's safety is our first priority. We want to ensure all students and staff know exactly what to do in case we need it.

Our Candyman fundraiser has started. Please make sure you set up their account online so they can earn prizes!

Our Oral Health Clinic will take place September 16-18 at West Oxford Elementary. This clinic is entirely free! Register to participate here: https://gra.identalcloud.com/GranvilleVance/Patient/_practice/2/Registration.

September 19th is a teacher workday. There will be no school for students.

We are starting to talk about field trips, and we would love for you to be able to chaperone. Please fill out the application here: https://www.gcs.k12.nc.us/270686_2.

As the weather changes, please be aware that temperatures in our school building fluctuate from room to room. Please help your student wear layers to school, and help us return missing items by labeling jackets and lunchboxes.
