September is School Attendance Awareness Month! Did you know that school attendance is critical for strong academic performance? We expect every student to be on time to school every day so that they can grow their brains and not fall behind. We know illness happens, but we encourage you to shoot for 98% attendance- no more than four days absent per year!

This week fourth graders buried a time capsule to go with their reading assignment. In media, student learned about online safety and using reliable sources for research. Students took their fitness tests in PE. Thank you to each of you who participated in our PTO fundraiser!

October 2nd is Custodian Appreciation Day. Shout out to Mr. Hart, Ms. Harris, and Mr. Parks who keep our building beautiful!

The book fair is October 6th through 10th!

Title I Night is on October 9th from 4:00-6:00. It will be a global celebration, and we want you to join us!

Our school wide Beautification Day is October 11th. We would love your help moving bushes, building a nine square game, and weeding flower beds. Let me know if you can join us!

Field trips are happening soon, and we would love for you to be able to chaperone. Please fill out the application here: https://www.gcs.k12.nc.us/270686_2.

Every student has a reading log. Please make sure that you are reading and documenting your reading every night!
