Welcome to October! Third grade kicked off the month with a field trip to the Science Museum. Our second grade students worked hard to learn long vowel teams and build their reading fluency. Students in kindergarten are adding within five and in fifth grade students are learning about inherited traits.
October 2nd was Custodian Appreciation Day. We love Mr. Hart, Ms. Harris, and Mr. Parks who keep our building beautiful!
From October 6 to 10, students will have the exciting opportunity to choose their own books—an experience that empowers them and inspires a love of reading. Best of all, every purchase helps earn rewards for our school. We will be open during school hours and on Title I Night. Set up a digital eWallet for quick, cash-free shopping:

Title I Night is on October 9th from 4:00-6:00. It will be a global celebration, and we want you to join us! We will have performances and snacks as you learn about classroom content and continents around the world.
Our school wide Beautification Day is October 11th. We would love your help moving bushes, building a nine square game, and weeding flower beds. Let me know if you can join us! We would love donations of mulch.
We have many field trips happening this month, and we would love for you to be able to chaperone. Please fill out the application here: https://www.gcs.k12.nc.us/270686_2. Please let your teacher or the office know that you have submitted the form.
Our third through fifth grade students will have their first All Pro Dad's Breakfast on October 14th at 8:00. We will provide breakfast, but please RSVP.
Fall break will be October 16 and 17th. THere is no school for students.
Our Fall Festival is November 7th! Mark your calendars!
Every student has a reading log. Please make sure that you are reading and documenting your reading every night!
