West Oxford Owl for October 10, 2026

This week was the book fair, and so many of you supported us, exploring books with your students. I had three Principals for the Day Monday, and these students helped me plan the upcoming dance and run school wide assemblies. In PE, students are learning to serve a volleyball and jump rope. Kindergarten took an amazing field trip to explore many locations around Oxford, including the sheriff's department, a yoga studio, and an ice cream shop. We met community helpers and learned how we can be a part of our town. It is also fire safety week, and we learned how to stay safe in emergencies.

The global competency for October is flexibility, and we put that into practice on Thursday when the power went out. Thank you for your patience with dismissal and bus delays as we made adjustments. We cancelled out Title I Night and will reschedule for October 28th from 4:00-6:00. Please plan to join us!

Our school wide Beautification Day is tomorrow, October 11th. We would love your help moving bushes, building a nine square game, and weeding flower beds. Let me know if you can join us!

Our third through fifth grade students will have their first All Pro Dad's Breakfast on Tuesday, October 14th at 8:00. We will provide breakfast, but please RSVP.

Our PTO meets Tuesday at 6:00 in the media center. We will be planning the fall festival and would love to have you there!

There is a school dance on Wednesday, October 15th. K-2 will dance in the cafeteria and 3-5 will dance in the gym. There is a Halloween theme and admission is $5. Please pay in advance.

Fall break will be October 16 and 17th. There is no school for students.

Fall pictures are the 21st. Parent conferences are October 23rd and 24th. Please keep an eye out for scheduling information from your child's teacher.

Our Fall Festival is November 7th! Mark your calendars!

Every student has a reading log. Please make sure that you are reading and documenting your reading every night!
