On Tuesday, students stayed home from school, and our teachers spent the day learning. They developed the Global Action Projects that students will be completing soon. These are opportunities to. learn about global issues, what those look like in our communities, and how we can be part of the solution.

We're so excited about our Fall Festival and hope you'll plan on coming for an evening packed with fun. The children will have a blast with all sorts of activities, including a hay ride, bowling, face painting, and a cake walk! We've got your dinner and snack needs covered with delicious food opportunities like hot dogs, cotton candy, water ice, and popcorn. The festival runs from 5 to 7 p.m.—we can't wait to see you there!

West Oxford Elementary School is excited to again have the reading buddy program in which
members of the community volunteer to read with students on a weekly basis. The goal of the
program is for students to develop meaningful, positive relationships with mentors while having
the opportunity to practice reading skills. Ms. Carroll coordinates this program. Please email her at carrollk@gcs.k12.nc.us or call her at 919-693-9161.

Mark your calendars for upcoming events:

November 11th is the Veteran's Day holiday. There is no school as we take time to honor those who served in the military.  I know we have active and retired military members represented in our families, and we are thankful for each of you.

Progress Reports go home on November 20th.

Fall picture retakes are November 21st.

Thanksgiving Break is November 26-28th. There is no school for students those three days.

We invite you to review our School Improvement Team (SIT) Plan and share your feedback. Your input plays an important role in shaping our goals and ensuring we continue to meet the needs of all students. Please take a few moments to review the plan and let us know your thoughts, suggestions, or questions. Your voice helps guide our efforts to create the best possible learning environment for every child. Please go to https://woes.gcs.k12.nc.us/woxschoolimprovementplan to access our School Improvement Plan and the feedback document.

Every student has a reading log. Please make sure that you are reading and documenting what you read every night!
