West Oxford Owl for November 14, 2025

The energy on campus was high this week as we focused on the global competancy of Global Connection, focusing on how our choices impact those around us! The week kicked off Monday with conversations about the importance of veterans and how they serve our community. Community engagement continued when we welcomed students from the Northern Granville Middle School Leadership Club, who visited our PreK classrooms to read with our youngest learners. Later in the week, our fourth-grade students designed their own city at the City of Raleigh Museum on Friday. Meanwhile, the sounds of singing and dancing fill the gym every morning as our students enthusiastically prepare for the upcoming Winter Program on December 16th!

This week is our only full week of school in November, and we will be busy working and learning all week. Progress Reports go home on November 20th, and fall picture retakes are November 21st.

Thanksgiving Break is November 26-28th. There is no school for students those three days.

Please make sure your child's bus badge is attached to their bookbag so they can sign in on their bus!

West Oxford Elementary School is excited to again have the reading buddy program in which
members of the community volunteer to read with students on a weekly basis. The goal of the
program is for students to develop meaningful, positive relationships with mentors while having
the opportunity to practice reading skills. Ms. Carroll coordinates this program. Please email her at carrollk@gcs.k12.nc.us or call her at 919-693-9161.

We invite you to review our School Improvement Team (SIT) Plan and share your feedback. Your input plays an important role in shaping our goals and ensuring we continue to meet the needs of all students. Please take a few moments to review the plan and let us know your thoughts, suggestions, or questions. Your voice helps guide our efforts to create the best possible learning environment for every child. Please go to https://woes.gcs.k12.nc.us/woxschoolimprovementplan to access our School Improvement Plan and the feedback document.

Every student has a reading log. Please make sure that you are reading and documenting what you read every night!
