West Oxford Owl for January 23, 2026

On Friday, students went to our winter carnival, a celebration for all our students with 100 dojo points. They ate, played games, and did crafts as while Mr. Diaz played DJ! This was a busy week of testing. Our older students started to prepare our Black History Program for February 24th. Our Rhythm and Movement program has started, and is now open to K-2 students until they hit capacity. The sign up link is here.

The forecast for this weekend looks like winter is getting ready to show off! No decisions have yet been made about school closures, but we want to be prepared. All students received their Remote Learning Packets for Days 1 -5 last week. These packets came with instructions stating that the work is ONLY to be completed if school is closed due to weather. All students should still have these packets at home.

Parents, please ensure the following expectations are followed:
  • Students are to complete ONLY the packet for the specific day school is closed.
Example: If school is closed on Monday, students should complete the work for Day 1 only. Do not work ahead or complete additional packet days unless additional school days are cancelled.
  • Work Must Be Submitted for Attendance:
If school is closed, the completed packet for that closure day must be submitted on the first day school reopens for the student to be counted present for that missed day.
  • Work Will Be Graded:
All packet work for days the school we have remote learning must be completed in full and will receive a grade upon return.

Mark your calendar for these upcoming events!
  • Parent Conferences will take place on January 29th from 4:00-6:30. Your child's teacher will be reaching out with opportunities to sign up.
  • Weather permitting, please join us for our Growth Parade on January 30th at 1:45.
  • The week of February 2nd is School Counselor Appreciation Week. Please show Ms. Clark some love!
  • February 3rd is our All Pro Dad's breakfast for 3rd through 5th grade.
  • February 20th is our Sneakerball! Mark your calendar to come dance with your child.
  • The Black History Program is February 24th.

It is enrollment season! All students enrolling in kindergarten and applying for PreK can do so online here. If you live out of district and are here by choice, make sure you complete the enrollment form here to remain at West Oxford!

Friends, the weather looks like we're in for a ride. Stay warm and find some good books to read!
