Happy Valentine's Day West Oxford families! Thank you to all of you who donated to make our classroom parties a success. I know everyone had a great time celebrating love and friendship. Many fathers turned out for our All Pro Dad's Breakfast on Tuesday as we learned about responsibility. Our older students are enthusiastically preparing a variety of products for our Black History showcase at the end of the month!
It is love the bus month across North Carolina, and we want to show our appreciation to the incredible staff members who wake up early and work late to ensure that every student has a way to get to and from school. These bus drivers are essential to making sure our kids get an education, and we appreciate them.
Sunday is School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! Shout out to Deputy Gallop who keeps us safe at school!
Our fundraiser runs from February 16 – February 20! We’re selling Double Good’s award-winning popcorn and earning 50% of every sale. Visit
our fundraising page to learn more on how to get started. Everyone who sells two bags of popcorn can help duct tape Ms. Bonnemere to the wall! We will sell Krispy Kreme BOGO cards at the same time and each card sold will also count towards our duct tape event.
Mark your calendar for these upcoming events!
- February 16th is now a regular day of school.
- February 20th is our Sneakerball! Mark your calendar to come dance with your child. Please pay for your ticket by Monday, February 16th.
- The Black History Program is February 24th. We will have dance, art, skits, and research shared by our students.
- PTO Bingo Night will take place on February 27th. Tacos Al Vaquero will be here to sell you dinner!
It is enrollment season! All students enrolling in kindergarten and applying for PreK can do so online
here.
We have a new face at the front desk, Ms. Smith. She is excited to meet all of you, but as she doesn’t know you yet, please be prepared to present your identification when you pick up your student. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe!
I often encourage you to read with your child, which is so essential to building awareness of text, as well as vocabulary and background knowledge. It also models fluent reading for your student. This can take many forms, whether you read to them, or you take turns reading, or you have your student read to you. There are many other ways to build vocabulary and background knowledge: playing rhyming games, cooking alongside your child, or playing I Spy in the car. I hope this Valentine's Day weekend, you and your family have fun plans that also encourage reading and language development!
