West Oxford Owl for March 8, 2026

Happy Read Across America Week! On Monday we celebrated Read Across America day with tons of community members sharing their love of reading with our classes! Our students exhibited the global competency of flexibility this week as we scheduled and rescheduled NC Check Ins due to technology glitches. We were able to take our science and math check ins, and I am so proud of all the strategies I know your students used! Our Battle of the Books team fought hard on Thursday. The competition was very tight, and we came in fifth.

Our Math Fact March Madness started today! Mr. Ardon, Ms. Neal, Ms. Bachman, Mr. Hathaway, Ms. Ochoa, and Mr. Clark were the winning classes this round, The Elite Eight compete at 9:00 Friday and families are welcome. Keep practicing those math facts!

Vote for our students recycle bin here! They created a vision of two worlds: one world covered in trash and one clean and well cared for.

This week, when you and your child read together, try making up a different ending to one of the books you read. It is always fun to reimagine familiar texts, and think critically about why an author chose a specific ending. I hope each of you get a chance to enjoy this beautiful weather this weekend!
