Good evening WOX students and families. This is Ms. Bonnemere with your weekly update for April 19, 2026.
Every year, I feel like time speeds up after Spring Break, and that was certainly true this week. It was a full week! Dr. Helen Lindsey spoke at our iMom's Breakfast Tuesday, and many of you turned out to celebrate your children. Field Day was Friday, and Mr. Tate did an amazing job putting together relay races, skill stations, and water events. I know I came home worn out!
We recognized many of our volunteers at our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, while acknowledging that many of our reading buddies, PTO members, and those of you who helped at Beautification Day were not present. I deeply love the way this community invests in our school. It makes it an amazing place to work!
We know it is easy to get caught up in all the fun and activities, but the heartbeat of our day is academic instruction. I heard students analyze text, pulling out context clues and justifying their inferences from the text. Students researched bluebirds to determine where to place the bird houses they are building. Other classrooms dug into two step word problems, while others focused on place value. I had two students helping me with a project, but as we worked I had them identifying equivalent fractions. We are focused on finishing the year strong and helping all students master their grade level standards so they're ready for next year. We will start iReady testing next week, so we will be able to track their progress. Please help them get a good night's sleep, a good breakfast, and be ready to do their best on Monday morning!
We have all kinds of exciting events coming up this week and next!
