West Oxford Owl for March 20, 2026

This week West Oxford was on the move! Our first grade students took a field trip to Falls Lake where we explored nature, learning all about animal habitats. We had a full house for the All Pro Dad's breakfast Tuesday. Different grade levels were working with fractions this week, and I heard conversations about numerators and mixed numbers in a wide range of grades whether students learned to place them on a number line or multiply them. In language arts classes, across broad spans and types of text, I heard students refer back to text as they answered questions. This is a skill you can help us build at home as well. As you and your child talk about books they are reading, ask them to to explain their thinking about the book using pictures or text.

Congratulations to Mr. Hathaway and Ms. Shearin for winning the Final Four in Math Fact March Madness Friday, The championship round is Friday at 9:00, and families are welcome. Keep practicing!

Congratulations to Ms. Nunnamaker who won a big grant from the Granville Ed Foundation for the fourth grade field trip!

Our Krispy Kreme fundraiser will kick off Monday! We are so excited to be able to deliver fresh donuts to you and all your friends, so please take advantage of this sale until April 2nd! Order forms will go home Monday.
