Good evening West Oxford students and families. This is Ms. Bonnemere with your weekly update for August 28, 2026.
Many of our third through fifth grade students began their school jobs this week. We have students work on the safety team, the announcement team, and as global greeters. Other students work as packers or on the delivery team when students purchase prizes from Merito. These school leaders model responsibility for all of us.
We are excited to invite grandparents or older friends to join us for our Grandparent's Day celebration on September 16th! For first-fifth grade, grandparents can join us for lunch. While outside food is not permitted, we would love to sell you lunch for $6. Please bring cash. If your child is in kindergarten or PreK, we would love for you to come to a special program at 1:30. We will provide a sweet treat.
We are making shifts to our dismissal process on the Ivey Day Rd side starting on Monday. We will run two rows of cars in front of the gym, having the left hand row move first, followed by the line on the right.
Our instruction starts promptly at 7:45, and all students who arrive on time receive a Merito dollar. We are teaching content until 2:55, so we encourage you to not check your child out early unless it is absolutely necessary. We do not want them to get behind!
This weekend, I am remembering the amazing Dolly Parton by curling up with a good book. I hope you and your family are able to take time to do the same.
