I am so proud to share that West Oxford met growth on its academic performance, growing 9 full points on the state report card! We saw so much progress, particularly in math and science, and our overall proficiency grew by more than 8 percentage points.
Last spring, our staff spent hours making magic happen—investing time and energy into creating incredible learning experiences to ensure that students mastered the standards. Students worked hard, setting goals for themselves and persevering through challenges. Families came alongside school staff to ensure students had strong attendance, read at home, and partnered with teachers to support their learning.
Test scores are certainly not the only indicators of student or school progress. Each of you can point to skills your children have mastered over the last year. We saw improvements in areas not demonstrated on the report card, from attendance to the number of books checked out of the media center. We love celebrating these accomplishments alongside you!
Candyman fundraiser envelopes came home on Tuesday. We had a big assembly where students learned all the prizes they can win. Please sell and support our PTO!
Our PTO meets on September 8th at 6:00 in the media center. We would love to have you join us as we plan for the year!
The Raleigh Rockers are returning to run our afterschool Rhythm and Movement Club on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:15, starting September 15th. Sign up sheets are
here or in the office!
We are excited to invite grandparents or older friends to join us for our Grandparent's Day celebration on September 16th! For first-fifth grade, grandparents can join us for lunch. While outside food is not permitted, we would love to sell you lunch for $6. Please bring cash. If your child is in kindergarten or PreK, we would love for you to come to a special program at 1:30. We will provide a sweet treat.
Due to the Labor Day Holiday, there is no school Monday. We hope everyone has a fu and safe holiday weekend!
