I walked into a fifth grade classroom today and a student was super excited to share her poster she was working on.  She shared her comparison of snakes and caecilians, blind limbless amphibians that I had never heard of.  She read about them in language arts and said, "They were new to me too!"  Across the hall, another fifth grade class took time to learn about 9/11 today, writing about honoring our first responders.

It is West Oxford's 50th birthday!  We are celebrating with a spirit week, and I hope you can participate.  I know many parents are West Oxford almuni and there will be all kinds of questions for you on our Facebook page!

Candyman fundraiser envelopes came home on Tuesday.  We had a big assembly where students learned all the prizes they can win.  Please sell and support our PTO!

The Raleigh Rockers are returning to run our afterschool Rhythm and Movement Club on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:15, starting September 15th.  Sign up sheets are here or in the office!

We are excited to invite grandparents or older friends to join us for our Grandparent's Day celebration on September 16th!  For first-fifth grade, grandparents can join us for lunch.  While outside food is not permitted, we would love to sell you lunch for $6.  Please bring cash.  If your child is in kindergarten or PreK, we would love for you to come to a special program at 1:30.  We will provide a sweet treat.

Constitution Day is Thursday, September 17th!  We will be learning about the way our government works.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!  I'll be at the Granville County Schools booth at the Hot Sauce Festival from 2:00-3:00 tomorrow.  Come see me!
