Fifth graders came through the door this week with posters and cardboard cut outs showcasing different body systems.  There were bright colored veins and inflatable lungs!  I can't wait to see them present their learning.  Kindergarteners collaborated with classmates as they built ramps out of cardboard and styrofoam, exploring concepts of gravity, friction, and push.  We are learning all over our campus!

Monday morning, we celebrated the amazing Carly Minor, our EC PreK teacher, as she was recognized as Granville County's EC teacher of the year.  We are so proud of the work she does with her students, but also the way she is a leader on our campus, supporting all staff and students.  This recognition is very well deserved!  Friday is Custodian Appreciation Day, and we celebrated our incredible custodial staff who care well for this fifty year old building, making sure the space is clean and safe.

This week we completed our first lockdown drill.  While we pray these procedures are never needed, Your child's safety is our top priority.  We practice these drills quarterly to ensure that each student knows what to expect and where to go in case of a crisis.  Please talk to your students about these drills and the importance of being safe at school.

Our Hispanic Heritage spirit week starts tomorrow!  On Monday, we will dress in the colors of a flag of a Spanish speaking country that they've been learning about with Mr. Diaz.  We will have a cultural showcase on Friday afternoon with music and dancing, presented by our students!

The Scholastic Book Fair is Coming on October 5–10, 2026.  It is open to the community on Monday–Friday, 2:45–4:00 p.m.  You can find the Book Fair homepage here. Discover new bestsellers, fan favorites, and series your kids will love!  Every purchase directly supports our school.  Come browse and celebrate the joy of reading with us!   Don't forget to set up your child's eWallet; find the directions on the book fair homepage.
