West Oxford Owl for October 9, 2026

This week was a whirlwind of celebration as we celebrated Hispanic Heritage all week.  Students dressed in the colors of flags, wore futbol jerseys, donned sombreros, and wore traditional attire.  On Friday afternoon, we were led in a school wide celebration of music and dancing by students in the dual language classes.  Their colorful performances had us cheering and clapping along.

Students love hosting their fathers for breakfast, and we loved seeing each of you on Tuesday at our first All Pro Dad's Breakfast!  Our younger students will have their first All Pro Dad's Breakfast on November 17th.

Our book fair was closed Thursday and Friday as Ms. Sneed was unexpectedly off campus. The book fair will be open tomorrow!

Mark your calendars!
  • Our PTO meets this Tuesday at 6:00 in the media center.  Please join us to finalize details for the Fall Festival.
  • Fall Break is coming up!  There is no school for students on October 15 and 16.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences are October 22nd from 4:00-6:30 and October 23rd from 8:00-12:00.  Your child's teacher will be reaching out.
  • Our Pajama Reading Party/Title I Night is October 27th from 4:00-6:00.  Join us for this fun night of reading!
  • Fall Festival is November 6th.  We are looking for volunteers, and donations of cakes for our silent auction.  Please let our PTO know if you can donate cake.

As we work together to keep our school community safe and positive, we want to help our students understand the important difference between self-defense and retaliation. True self-defense means taking quick, minimal action to escape harm during a threat, whereas retaliation is trying to get even after a threat has passed—which is never allowed at school. We encourage our students to remember that the smartest move is always avoiding confrontation, stepping away from danger, and immediately getting help from a trusted adult!

Please take time to read together this weekend.  See you tomorrow
